Mojang's Fall 2026 drop finally has a name and a date: Wilderness Bound arrives on Java as version 26.3 and on Bedrock as 26.50, with the release expected later this month. After months of snapshots and pre-releases, here's everything confirmed so far — and what it means for your worlds and datapacks.
Wilderness Bound is built around one centerpiece: the new Dappled Forest biome. It introduces poplar trees — notable because they come in three different leaf colors — plus an entirely new wood type for builders. Expect new natural blocks scattered through the biome to make it feel genuinely wild compared to existing forests.
The builders in the community are the real winners this drop. Confirmed additions include:
Combined with the new poplar wood set, this is one of the biggest decorative expansions Minecraft has seen in a minor drop.
⛏ Free datapack: Quick Home — the newest pack — /trigger sethome + /trigger home, 60s cooldown.
Maps are getting an overhaul too. Mojang has promised improved maps in this update — welcome news for explorers who've wanted better navigation tools for years.
Every Minecraft version bump changes the datapack pack_format, so older datapacks may show an "incompatible" warning after updating until their authors bump the version number. If you rely on QoL datapacks — coords HUDs, auto-replant, vein mining — check for updates before jumping into the Dappled Forest. We update all of ours for new versions, starting with our free coords HUD for 1.21+:

Java players get it as 26.3, Bedrock players as 26.50. Pre-releases have been rolling out through September, so if you want it day one, keep your launcher updated — or enable snapshots to try the pre-release builds right now.
